Fairchild Semiconductor has announced that Toshiba Carrier Corp. has picked its FSBS10CH60 Motion-Smart Power Module (SPM) for its air-conditioning systems. The module combines 16 discrete devices in a compact, thermally efficient Mini-DIP package, according to the press release.

"Fairchild's Motion-SPM offers simplified motor drive design and superb performance features allowing us to produce the most efficient air conditioners in their class. Fairchild met our strict quality requirements and partnered with us to swiftly bring our energy-saving product to market," said Tetsuji Yamashita, general manager, Electronics Development Division, Toshiba Carrier.

"The FSBS10CH60 is ideal for inverter systems to meet energy-efficiency requirements, providing competitive board-space savings, answering the increasing demand in low-power appliances for compactness and high reliability. Fairchild continues to recognize the emerging need to manage power, accelerate performance and provide products in the form factor the market demands," said Taehoon Kim, vice president of Fairchild's Functional Power Group.

The Motion-SPM devices has three high-voltage ICs, six IGBTs, six fast-recovery diodes and one low-voltage IC integrated in a compact transfer-molded package.
