The IPTV Asia Forum is set to kick off next month in Hong Kong and will cover the major issues on the successful implementation of IPTV. The two-day event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong will run from November 28 to 29. Topics include security and digital rights management, IPTV technologies and risks on piracy and illegal duplication.

"IPTV is the new frontier for telecoms convergence and with Asia's high demand for latest technology solutions from users, the time is right for a forum to share experiences, and learn about the prospects, as well as the potential pitfalls," said Asia Forum organiser Ian Johnson.

Companies participating in the event include HBO Asia, Fastweb, Chunghwa Telecom, NTT, Scientific Atlanta, Sony Pictures, ESPN, Bharti Tele-Ventures, MITV, City Telecom, Videonetworks, Microsoft TV and China Netcom. Integrated communications company PCCW will demonstrate its broadband IPTV service at the event.

"This show is unique. It will give a cross-country perspective on the Asia IPTV marketplacewith operators from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and China all describing their roll-out experiences as well as roadmaps to further, or initial, deployment," added Johnson.
