SigmaTel opens Japan office

Mixed-signal multimedia semiconductor company SigmaTel Inc. has set up an office in Japan to provide support for its customers in the Japanese and Asia-Pacific markets. SigmaTel Japan allows the company to provide its clients closer and faster technical and sales support in the region.

"The Asia Pacific region continues to be very strategic for SigmaTel, and building out an infrastructure in Japan to support the growing customer-base is critical for the company's continued success," said SigmaTel president and CEO Ron Edgerton, in a statement. "The establishment of SigmaTel Japan provides a great opportunity for SigmaTel to be closer to its existing customers and further underscores the company's commitment to Japan and the entire Asia-Pacific region."

SigmaTel has around 15 customers in Japan, including Toshiba, Sony and Fujitsu. The Japan office will focus customer and field applications support, quality assurance, sales and administrative activities.
