XLoom Communications Inc. reports that its newly-released InfiniFlame 12X is the industrys first front-panel pluggable optical modules for interconnecting InfiniBand clusters. The InfiniFlame 12X is an optical transmitter/receiver pair that is a 12-channel InfiniBand-ready, optical interconnect that supports speeds of up to 30Gbps per port. It features the XFP MSA mechanical interface, enables high port density, reduced power consumption and heat generation, and improves cost-per-port.

The product is equipped with an easy-to-use front-panel, hot pluggable optical modules and features power dissipation of 2.5W per transmitter/receiver pair. It provides independent channel management using I2C interface and features a standard MTP/MPO optical interface.

InfiniFlame 12X samples are available now to select partners. General sampling will be available during the first quarter of 2006.
