Casix Inc. announced the introduction of Neodymium Doped Gadolinium Vanadate (Nd:GdVO4) laser crystals for the solid state laser market. According to Casix, the Nd:GdVO4 crystals are ideal laser host materials for diode pumped solid state (DPSS) micro/mini lasers because of their high power output, high slope efficiency, good thermal conductivity, low lasing threshold and high laser-induced damage threshold.
The new laser crystals have a large stimulated emission cross section at laser wavelength and a high absorption coefficient and wide bandwidth at pump wavelength, but have a low dependency on pump wavelength and produce a strongly polarized laser output. The Nd:GdVO4 has a higher slope efficiency than Nd:YAG crystals and better thermal conductivity and higher power output than Nd:YVO4 crystals, added the company.
The Nd:Doping level of Nd:YVO4 crystals is 0.1 to 4 atomic percent, wavefront distortion is less than lambda/8 at 633nm, orientation of a-cut is 10.50 and the dimensional tolerance is 10.1mm.
