Profibus connectors

CDM Electronics, a distributor of commercial and military interconnect products, now offers diagnostic Profibus (Process Field Bus) connectors from 2E Mechatronic. These connectors are used for connecting Profibus components for industrial and automation machinery in automotive, telecommunications, datacommunications and energy applications.

Designed to provide fast and reliable terminations in harsh environments, the new Profibus D-subminiature 9-pin connectors feature an EMI/RFI shielded metal housing, and are sealed to IEC standard IP-20 for use in communications cables. They are available with screw- or spring-clamp terminations. For increased reliability of the cable connections, they incorporate a captive single-screw mechanism to ensure that there are no loose parts, and provide a transparent window for visual verification.

The connectors feature an integrated termination resistor that can be easily turned on with a countersunk switch to help ensure the accuracy of adjustments. They offer 2-conductor horizontal (90) cable entry, and are designed for use with cable diameters ranging from 5.5mm to 8mm, and for conductor size AWG 22. The operating temperature range is -20C to 70C, and the supply voltage is 4.75Vdc to 5.25Vdc.

Suitable for applications requiring test functions to facilitate troubleshooting and fast implementation of a Profibus network, the devices are offered with an integrated diagnostic port for field diagnostic monitors, analyzers or laptops. Parts without diagnostics are also available.

Pricing for the Profibus connectors start at $50 each, while parts without a diagnostic port are priced at $40 each. Delivery is from stock.
