VGA transflective TFT display

One Stop Displays (OSD) has launched its new 3.5-inch full VGA transflective TFT display with 6-bit color (262 K colors) for pocket PCs and other handheld devices.

The high brightness OSDT035STEE1 TFT display has an active area of 53.28(H)-by-71.04(V)mm and an overall size of 64(H)-by-85(V)-by-4.10(T)mm. The display includes an integrated touch panel and a white LED backlight. Luminance is 150cd/m2 when the backlight is on. The operating temperature is -10C to 60C with a storage temperature of -30C to 70C.

Power consumption for the LCD panel and internal electronics is 96mW. The white LED backlight consumes an additional 430mW when operating at typical brightness. The LED backlight can be regulated by the user input for battery-powered devices and low-power applications, and can be reduced below typical due to the transflective polarization of the panel, said the company.

Using an advanced low temperature manufacturing process allows this display to offer lower power consumption, higher pixel density and greater pixel aperture ratios than conventional high temperature amorphous Silicon (a-Si) TFT displays, said OSD. In addition, Chip-on-Glass construction allows the driver ICs to be mounted directly to the LCD panel, which reduces the overall component count and mechanical footprint.

The 3.5-inch TFT display is priced at $63 in quantities of 1,000.
