Toshiba Corp. has denied that is considering or has any plans to license OneNAND flash memory technology from South Korean chipmaker Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and has reiterated its support for M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd.
American Technology Research Inc., a market analysis company, published a note on Wednesday (Nov. 23) saying Toshiba was in discussions with Samsung and was about to make a deal. However, this has been denied by Toshiba.
"Toshiba Corporation is not considering and has no plans for licensing oneNAND, now or in the future. In fact, Toshiba intends to continue to collaborate on development of Mobile DiskOnChip technology in collaboration with M-Systems," said Kiyoshi Kobayashi, technology executive, flash memory, at Toshiba Corporation Semiconductor Company, in an email received by EE Times.
"Toshiba and M-Systems have successfully worked on the development and introduction of various products derived from Mobile DiskOnChip technology since its introduction in 1998 and will continue to do so," Kobayashi added in the email.
