Tiny crystal suits ultra-mini devices

Raltron Electronics Corp. has developed a small surface-mount crystal, measuring 2.5-by-2-by-0.6mm, designed for ultra-miniature applications, including PCMCIA cards, mini hard disk drives, GPS modules and mobile/camera phone modules. They can also be used in a host of Bluetooth and other wireless applications.

The R2520 series offers a frequency range of 16MHz to 55MHz with stability and tolerance of 150ppm over the temperature range of -100C to 700C. Custom specifications such as wider temperature ranges and stabilities of 110ppm to 130ppm are available on special order.

Packaged on tape-and-reel (1,000 units/reel), the R2520 series is priced at 86 cents each in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is eight to ten weeks with samples available in four to six weeks.
