AnSem announces design of analog IP in 90nm TSMC tech

AnSem, a fabless analog and mixed-signal IC design house offering advanced RF CMOS, high-speed data communication, data acquisition and low-power design services, announced that it has designed its first analog IP in standard 90nm technology from Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co. Ltd (TSMC).

The custom-designed 2.5Gbps to 3.125Gbps multi-standard (SONET, XAUI and Rapid I/O) SerDes PHY has been designed for use in Kawasaki Microelectronics' advanced communication ASICs.

According to Dr. Jan Crols, CTO of AnSem, they were able to fully exploit the speed advantages offered by the 90nm technology node. "The next development step will be to meet the design challenges of the upcoming 65nm technology node in realizing advanced analog IPs that enable our customers to continue being market leaders in advanced mixed-signal SoCs with SerDes, RF CMOS or data-acquisition functionality," Crols said.

AnSem disclosed that they plan to introduce a 65nm IC at the end of 2006, and that development is now underway to apply the 90nm design to advanced RF CMOS ICs and advanced data-acquisition IPs.
