DiBcom unveiled the DIB7710-P, a highly integrated, low-power, cost-effective DVB-T chip with a PCI interface. According to the company, the DIB7710-P and the DIB7700-P DVB-T chip which includes a USB 2.0 interface for digital TV reception on PC and was introduced in May 2005, provide a complete solution for all possible PCTV DVB-T peripherals, ranging from mini-PCI to mini-card for laptops, and PCI to USB 2.0 for desktops.

The new external PCI-Express form factor, which replaces the previous CardBus interface, is also supported by these circuits. Utilizing less than 200mW for the demodulator, this product provides one of the lowest power consumption on the market. DiBcom added that its new chip also offers the perfect reception quality with a portable antenna.

The DIB7710- P can be used in either single or diversity mode, which has proven to offer up to 11dB gain in European countries for portable reception, said the press release. This currently supports hybrid analog/digital combination.

DiBcom added that the cost advantage of merging PCI and USB 2.0 interfaces on the chip is very high. "The PCTV market is growing rapidly and very demanding in terms of size, power and price," said Yannick Levy, president and CEO of DiBcom. "With the DIB7700 and DIB7710, we now have the most advanced solution on the market, where there is a growing demand for mobile TV solutions on PC."
