Version 8.4 of Synplicity Inc.'s Synplify Pro product is designed to provide additional performance-enhancing features for Lattice Semiconductor's FPGAs.

"Our 8.4 release of Synplify Pro software adds many new performance-enhancing features like pipelining, re-timing, automatic RAM inferencing and inferring sequential shift operations in the RTL for implementation in RAM that result in substantial improvements for Lattice FPGAs," said Jeff Garrison, director of FPGA products for Synplicity.

With the latest additions to the software, the companies claim that designers can expect to achieve a 20 percent performance improvement and area savings compared with competitive solutions.

According to a Synplicity spokesperson, pricing for Synplify Pro starts at $20,000. The price supports all devices from a single FPGA vendor (like Lattice) and is a node-locked license. Pricing goes up to $49,000 for a version that supports all FPGA vendors and is a floating license. A 20 percent annual maintenance is charged on these list prices.

Lattice customers can upgrade their OEM synthesis product to Synplify Pro for $6,000 plus an additional $4,000 for maintenance.
