Axiomtek, an Associate Member of the Intel Communications Alliance (ICA), unveiled a new fanless embedded system, the eBOX638-FL, the new addition to its growing Pentium M family line of eBOX products. According to the press release, this fanless full-function computer offers excellent graphical performance and is suitable for industrial automation applications and AOI/DVR/media display devices.

Available in two configurations using either a low voltage Intel Pentium M 1.4GHz or ultra low voltage Intel Celeron M 600MHz processor, the new embedded system provides 2 PCI-X (64-bit) expansion slots. Leveraging off the core strengths of Axiomtek's other embedded systems, the eBOX638-FL offers high performance with low power requirements, a wide choice of I/O connectors, 3 COM ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, Audio, LAN, 2.5-inch hard disk drive support, and a 100W 24V DC-in power supply. The watchdog timer function will automatically reset the eBOX638-FL and send the error message to specified users if required, which reduces the need for maintenance.

Axiomtek added that the excellent graphics are powered by an Intel 855GME/852GM chipset with a maximum 64MB graphic memory. Featuring an anti-vibration mechanism design (2Grms with CompactFlash, 0.5Grms with HDD) and system thermal solution (operation temperature from -10C o 50C with wide range temperature HDD), the eBOX can work in critical environments with internal hard disks. Additionally, the platform can be bundled with the Axiomtek's embedded OS solutions (Microsoft Windows and Embedded Linux family-based products).

"Ideal for system integrators, software developers and manufacturers seeking to reduce time to market for new application hardware platforms, Axiomtek's eBOX series is completely integrated and customizable per customer needs," said Eric Chiang, product manager of embedded computing division. "The maintenance-free system and fanless design allows the extremely reliable and excellent suitable compact computer to work in a wide range of environments and heavy-duty industrial fields without high frequency maintenance."
