TDK Corp. announced the development of the MEA2010PE series of multilayer chip EMI filter arrays, which are touted as the world's first noise countermeasure products for use in mobile terminals that can receive terrestrial digital broadcasts.

When television tuners are used in cellphones, in addition to the communications band (800MHz to 2GHz), a broadcast band (470MHz to 770MHz) is also utilized, and as a result, noise countermeasures are crucial in device design and miniaturization. TDK developed its new filter arrays as a response to this need. According to the company, its new products provide 'cutting-edge' noise countermeasures with a focus on terrestrial digital broadcasts and a compact package of 2-by-1-by-0.7mm in size.

There are four product lineups15pF, 22pF, 36pF and 40pF, with different capacitances for optimal effects depending on the circuit. These devices can be used in terrestrial digital broadcast tuners and as effective noise countermeasures in a variety of applications that use the 470MHz to 2GHz band.

The MEA2010PE series are Pb-free, compatible with Pb-free solder and conform to RoHS Directive.
