LG HDTV powered by SpatiaLight imagers

SpatiaLight Inc., a manufacturer of liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) microdisplays, announced that LG Electronics has introduced its 2006 high definition television (HDTV) product lineup highlighted in the above 50-inch category by two LCoS models using SpatiaLight's microdisplays.

Unveiled at LG's 2006 dealer show in Grapevine, Texas, the 62-inch and 71-inch 1,920 x 1,080p LCoS HD rear projection TVs are powered by SpatiaLight imagers. According to the press release, LGs' next generation XD Engine optical engine and video processing system is the key to the 2006 LG product lineup. SpatiaLight's 1,920 x 1,080p LCoS imagers power the XD optical engine to provide true HD video brilliance and intensity, offering a superior television experience to the consumer. LG added that its new cutting edge LCoS televisions will also feature digital CableCARD slots, HDMI/HDCP inputs, integrated ATSC tuning and TV Guide On Screen programming guides.

SpatiaLight COO David Hakala, commented, "We are excited about LG's rollout of LCoS televisions into the U.S. consumer market. We believe that LG's LCoS televisions powered by our imagers will make a big splash in the United States and be very well received by consumers."
