On-chip subsystem provider IPextreme Inc. has opened a design center in Tokyo and named design and EDA veteran Kirk Saotome head of the company's Japanese operations.

Most recently, Saotome worked for a design consulting firm introducing a platform solution for high-end digital signal processing applications. He has previously worked in the EDA industry marketing system level design tools at Cadence Design Systems Inc. and consulting on design reuse at Synopsys Inc. He holds a B.S. in Math from Science University of Tokyo.

"IPextreme is making excellent traction in the market as evidenced by the opening of our third design center this year," said Warren Savage, IPextreme president and CEO, in a statement. "With this newest facility, headed by Mr. Saotome, IPextreme is well poised to support our growing base of customers in Japan."

IPextreme has also recently opened design centers in Silicon Valley and Munich.
