Socle, a design service provider of SoC design platform, announced that it has recently finished the Design Platform Service Plan for Integrated Evaluation Platform, which had received the Si-Soft Project Approval from Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs in February 2004.

With this project, said Socle, it can provide customers with the integrated design and evaluation platform needed for designing optimized SoCs and enhancing cost-performance ratio of products. Additionally, said the company, it can help customers select the best system structure that meets product specification requirements, and reduce the workflow and cost of developing SoC products.

In the past, manual calculation was usually applied to the performance evaluation during the initial stage of SoC product architecture design, making accuracy doubtful, said Socle. After function design, it is possible to test the prototype in virtual or physical hardware/software evaluation environment to get more accurate results. Once the original design architecture does not meet system performance requirements, it should spend more time and cost in re-modification.

Under the Si-Soft project, Socle provides various platform architecture options (single-AHB and Multi-AHB) with the Design Platform Service Plan for Integrated Evaluation Platform. Through Socle's website, customers can select their desired SoC structure and evaluate SoC speed, area, testability and power in the beginning stage. Customers may then choose the best structure design for their SoC, based on target functions and product features. This helps developers reach time-to-market faster, and enables IC design houses to save resources and manpower in planning and developing products, said Socle.
