RF connectors deliver fast connectivity, secure termination

Tyco Electronics has launched a series of RoHS-compliant RF coaxial connectors for commercial applications such as instrumentation, medical equipment, industrial process and control, transportation and CCTV monitoring.

Using precision die-cast components and thermoplastic dielectrics, the ZDC series connectors feature bayonet coupling for fast connectivity and threaded coupling for secure termination. The connectors are available with either a 50-ohm or 75-ohm impedance and a frequency range from DC up to 4GHz. Minimum durability is 50 cycles. The devices terminate to RG coax cables, and operate between the -55°C to 85°C temperature range.

Initially available in BNC interfaces and a range of cable mounted plugs and jacks, bulkhead and PC-board sockets, the ZDC series connectors offer multiple PC-board mounting options and meet MIL-C-39012 and MIL-STD348A requirements. The crimp connectors provide repeatable crimp termination, and use standard hexagonal crimp tools and die-sets to eliminate costly re-tooling, said the company.
