SDRAM module suits high bandwidth, high performance apps

White Electronic Designs Corp. announced the availability of its 512MB DDR2 SDRAM Registered with Phase-lock Loop (PLL). This device is a 2 x 32M x 72 DDR2 SDRAM high density module. The 512MB module consists of eighteen 32M x 8bit with 4 banks DDR2 Synchronous DRAMs in FBGA packages, mounted on a 240-pin DIMM FR4 substrate (JEDEC standard).

According to the press release, the high performance module was specifically designed for a variety of high bandwidth, high performance memory system applications. It utilizes synchronous design which allows precise cycle control with the use of system clock. The module also offers gold edge contacts, is dual rank and includes multiple internal device banks for concurrent operation.

The 512MB SDRAM features fast data transfer rates: PC2-6400, PC2-5300, PC2-4200 and PC2-3200 (consult factory for availability of PC2-6400), and on-die termination. It provides programmable CAS# latency 3, 4, 5 and 6 serial presence detect with EEPROM and differential data strobe for transmitting and receiving data.

Defined as part number WV3HG232M72EER-D6, the 512MB DDR SDRAM is priced at $53 each in volumes of 1,000 pieces with a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks.
