Phihong USA, a power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solutions provider, is offering a range of PoE solutions, which is said to address the issues of cost and accessibility while detecting and protecting IEEE 802.3af PoE products.

"We design, manufacture and sell our own high volume power products, so pricing isn't driven up to cover the expenses of several companies involved throughout the design and manufacture process," said Keith Hopwood, VP of marketing for Phihong USA. "Because of this, our full line of PoE solutions requires a much lower initial outlay than other products on the market, so PoE and VoIP systems are even more affordable."

Phihong's line of PoE for VoIP products includes single- and multi-port midspan injectors from 1 to 24 ports, which power Cisco 79 series phones with pre-standard PoE detection without any additional line swapping or detection modules. Also included in the company's PoE line are DIMM power modules for 8 to 48 ports, splitters, and power supplies with integrated PoE.

PoE allows both power and data to be carried over a single Ethernet cable, enabling a device to operate entirely from the power it receives through the data cable. This eliminates the need for additional wall outlets, so phones can be moved around offices without costly and time-consuming rewiring.
