Infineon Technologies AG, a leading provider of communication ICs, announced that its WildPass WLAN network processor SoC has been selected by Accton Technology Corp. for its VG2211i gateway.
According to the press release, the WildPass SoC enables Accton's VG2211i secure, portable wireless VoIP gateway. The gateway is suited as a portable WLAN access point and VoIP router, meeting the increased mobility requirements of end-users, and can also be used to seamlessly and economically add WLAN and VoIP capabilities to existing broadband connections.
Additionally, the Accton VG2211i gateway can be easily plugged into a broadband connection and provide WLAN connectivity for such applications as home networking and office access points. Existing analog telephones can also be connected to the VG2211i for making VoIP calls, allowing end-users to benefit from services such as a single phone number worldwide and lower calling rates.
"Infineon's voice and networking knowledge, combined with its excellent silicon architecture and understanding of customer requirements, played a major role in our selection.," said Cashew Chen, marketing vice president for Accton. "The standard-compliant WLAN and fast routing capabilities of the WildPass SoC, as well as its multiple interfaces, perfectly meet the requirements of our gateway system."
The WildPass SoC is part of Infineon's advanced customer premises equipment solutions portfolio, which also includes Amazon, VINAX-CPE, VINETIC, ADM5120 and a number of Ethernet switch and PHY devices. This SoC can be seamlessly integrated into a wide variety of network applications, including VoIP access points, broadband routers and gateways, as well as media and print servers.
