X2Y three-terminal capacitors

Syfer Technology offers an extended range of RoHS-compliant, X2Y three-terminal capacitors for decoupling and EMI suppression.

The X2Y is an integrated passive component that provides three capacitors in one device, thereby reducing the total number of standard passive components required. As a result, it can lead to significant cost savings, reduced assembly time and higher product reliability, said the company.

The balanced line, three-terminal X2Y chips provide simultaneous line-to-line and line-to-ground filtering. They are available in various combinations of capacitance values that range from 10pF to 1.2?F, with rated voltages of 25V, 50V or 100V in case sizes from 0603 to 2220.

Delivering differential- and common-mode filtering, these X2Y chip capacitors are suitable for balanced line, EMI suppression in DC motors in a variety of automotive, telecommunications and industrial applications. The filter devices can also be used in sensors (including Hall Effect), filtered connectors and fiber-optic components, crystal circuits and LED modules.

A key feature of X2Y dielectric technology is that it exhibits extremely low self-inductance, making it particularly suitable for high-frequency decoupling applications in high-speed multimedia and communications applications. They are also finding homes in CAN Bus applications as well audio amplifiers and micro-power instrumentation amplifiers. The company said there is also growing interest in the military and medical sectors.

In addition, these X2Y capacitors are available with Syfer's flexible terminations, called FlexiCap. This technology is designed to reduce the risk of mechanical damage such as cracking during handling and assembly processes.

The X2Y three-terminal capacitors sell in volume for 6 cents to 45 cents each, depending on chip size and voltage. Delivery is six weeks.
