ProDesign Electronics Corp. released the latest version of its CHIPit Platinum ASIC prototyping system, featuring an enhanced system architecture based on the latest Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA technology, new debugging features and new software for system design implementation.

According to ProDesign, Version 4 of CHIPit Platinum is the first ASIC prototyping system to handle up to 21 Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGAs with a flexible programmable connection topology for a large number of different configurations. This scalable system can be configured with 3 to 21 Virtex-4s, ProDesign said, for designs from 2.3 million to 20 million ASIC gates.

Version 4 includes a patented three-dimensional switching technology to allow for architectural trade-off optimizations with different design structures of a SoC design, the company said. The platform's new debugging capabilities include host-controlled and separate interfaces, as well as an enhanced debugging and system-handling software package, the company said.

The new version is available immediately, according to ProDesign. Pricing information was not disclosed.
