Nvidia Corp. announced the availability of Quadro FX 4500 SDI, an integrated graphics-to-video solution offering uncompressed SDI output from programmable graphics.
According to the press release, the Quadro SDI products provide broadcasters' programming with HD content, from real-time 3D effects, to virtual sets like news, sports and weather. These solutions leverage a programmable graphics processing unit, which can generate and output both standard and HDTV content in real time, allowing these solutions to be used in a live broadcast environment.
The product can also be used for non-linear editing, content creation and color grading, delivering up to a 50 percent performance improvement versus the previous generation SDI solution. In addition, the graphics card supports 2K formats and has a 512MB frame buffer for images.
Nvidia added that its Quadro SDI solutions have been certified, qualified or integrated by independent software vendors, including Adobe, Assimilate, Autodesk, Avid, DaVinci, Iridas, Nucoda, PVI, Sonic Solutions, Sportvision and Weather Central. The ability to customize Quadro SDI products to a particular workflow makes them a suitable solution for platforms that these companies create, including video creation, editing and delivery.
"The flexibility of our SDI solutions and the fact that they can be integrated within a broadcast or post production environment is very important to our customers," said Jeff Brown, GM for Nvidia's professional products. "Support for output of uncompressed SDI in 2K, HD or SD formats on both Windows and Linux allows users to render video content in real time and deliver material in final form more quickly with stunning visual quality."
