Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc., a developer of power management semiconductors, has filed a suit against Linear Technology Corp. over alleged unfair business practices, interference with customers, trade libel, as well as a declaration of patent invalidity and non-infringement.

The complaint, filed in the Northern District of California, alleges that Linear commenced a marketing campaign designed to disrupt AnalogicTech's business relationships and sales. Linear is allegedly telling AnalogicTech's customers that AnalogicTech infringes several U.S. patents owned by Linear, according to the suit.

Linear suggested further that it would use those patents to take legal action against AnalogicTech or its customers. AnalogicTech firmly believes that none of its products infringe the patents in question.

AnalogicTech is seeking enhanced damages, attorney fees and costs.

As discussed in AnalogicTech's final IPO prospectus dated Aug. 3, 2005, Linear expressed in writing its opinions of AnalogicTech's alleged patent infringement in 2003 and late 2004. AnalogicTech responded in writing to both of Linear's letters and explained its non-infringement position and revealed arguments for patent invalidity.
