ATS' ISD board

Thermal and mechanical packaging company Advanced Thermal Solutions Inc. (ATS) is releasing its ISD board designed to measure air temperature and velocity from two independent sensors. The ISD board also provides analog voltage outputs that range from 0 to 5V per sensor.

The board's precision sensors are calibrated at 0.3m/s to 50m/s air velocity, for both low (natural convection) flow rates and high flow rates. Temperature measurement capability ranges from -30C to 150C.

ATS's ISD board can be used to control devices, or to provide read-out data for display systems. It can to directly measure air flow and temperature in feedback control and measurement systems.

In use, the ISD requires a triple-output DC power supply delivering 5V, 15V/12V and -15V/-12V for operation. The ISD can be sited readily due to its 1.6-by-1.06-inch footprint. The ISD's Z height is 0.41-inch.

ATS can also provide a National Instruments LabVIEW VI (virtual instrument) to convert the system's voltages into temperature and velocity (if the unit is purchased with calibrated sensors and you have the capability to read the analog voltages).

Typical uses include wind tunnel controllers, HVAC regulators, and automotive mass flow controllers. Several ISD boards can also be integrated onto one circuit board for multi-point measurement of velocity, temperature, or both.

Pricing for a standard ISD board with two sensors is $657. Customized features, including special temperature range calibrations, are available.
