After moving away from the flash memory market, Japan's Renesas Technology Corp. announced the conclusion of a licensing agreement with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. (PSC) covering the technology and sale of 1Gb AG-AND flash memory devices.

The deal will allow PSC to sell AND flash memory under its own brand name. The agreement follows an earlier manufacturing agreement between the two companies.

Last month, Renesas said it would halt development of its AG-AND flash memory, but noted it will continue manufacturing and supplying current flash memory products. Renesas began volume production of 4Gb memory in April. It will continue to supply current flash memory products from 256Mb to 4Gb.
