Providing a reliable and small QFN/MLF adapter, Ironwood Electronics has developed a surface-mount emulator foot for 7mm body, 0.8mm pitch MLF/QFN ICs such as the Cypress PSOC family.

The SF-QFN28C-L-02 device has pads on the bottom and side that precisely match the pin layout for the MLF/QFN package, including the E-pad or heatsink pad in the center of the pattern. This allows connection to a QFN land pattern on the target board to provide a set of interconnects available for probing or connecting to another assembly.

The SF-QFN28C-L-02 is soldered using the same solder reflow and attachment methods used for a 28-pin MLF/QFN IC. The device has gold-plated side castellations for easy RoHS soldering methods and is the same size as the 28-pin MLF/QFN IC in the XY dimension and 3mm high. Other QFN SMT adapters are available in the same product line with 8 to 64 pins.

Already available, the SF-QFN28C-L-02 is priced at $85 each in a single quantity.
