Advantest Corp., the IC test equipment vendor locked in a patent dispute with Korean-based TechWing Inc., has expanded its case by petitioning a Taiwan court to temporarily block imports there of TechWing's memory test handlers.

Advantest filed a suit against TechWing in South Korea in December 2004, claiming TechWing's IC test handlers infringed Advantest patents granted there. That case is still pending.

Advantest expanded its case by alleging that TechWing's products are infringing its patents registered in Taiwan, which cover the basic design of semiconductor test handlers.

An Advantest spokesman said the company would pursue additional patent complaints against TechWing if the alleged infringement surfaces elsewhere.
