TSMC sales up 25% in January

Foundry chip provider Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd (TSMC) posted sales revenue in January of about $807 million, down 4.5 percent sequentially but up 25.6 percent compared with December 2004.

Sales for January are usually down on the preceding month. The year-on-year increase is down from the 37.6 percent rise achieved in December 2005 over December 2004.

TSMC enjoyed a strong second half to 2005 and it appears that the sales drive is continuing in 2006 although the growth rate is abating.
