Keywords:MAX9491? clock generator? VCXO? voltage-controlled crystal oscillator? Maxim Integrated Products?

Maxim Integrated Products introduced the MAX9491, a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) clock generator for communications systems such as routers and switches. A one-time-programmable ROM allows programming of the PLL output, which eliminates the need for programming the output frequencies after each power-up cycle, the company explained.

The VCXO clock generator's integrated PLL architecture uses a crystal or reference clock to generate clocks from 4MHz to 200MHz. Additionally, the integrated VCXO can track the input reference by 200ppm.

The MAX9491 is available in 20-pin TQFN and 14-pin TSSOP packages. This device operates from a single 3.3V supply and over the extended temperature range (-40C to 85C). Prices start at $1.10 for quantities of 1,000 and up.
