RadiSys Corp. recently announced the latest OS-9 PowerPC release, an RTOS solution that aims to address the needs of designers needing higher performance and lower power consumption from their PowerPC-based embedded designs.

The OS-9 PowerPC release is designed for PowerPC architecture, and promises to enable fast event creation while reducing CPU power utilization by up to 70 percent. Memory management unit usage is also designed to minimize translation lookaside buffer overhead while protecting against application faults.

The OS-9 PowerPC solution is designed for embedded real-time applications in automotive, industrial automation, medical, communications, aerospace and defense. It supports 32bit processors, including PowerPC, MIPS, ARM, Intel XScale/IXP/x86, Motorola 68000 and the Hitachi SuperH family.

Microware OS-9 for PowerPC is available immediately.
