Chip designer eInfochips plans to set up a subsidiary company in Japan to tap what it says is a growing market there. The company said has bagged two deals in Japan, including one for SoC verification for automobiles.

eInfochips ranks among the top 10 design services companies in India, with annual revenues of about $10 million. It expects more than 50 percent revenue growth in 2006, said Tapan Joshi, eInfochip's vice president of marketing.

The company is also working on a second-generation navigation system for automotive and marine uses.

It hopes to acquire an Indian back-end and mixed-signal vendor this year, and also expects to expand its staff here by 200 to 650 employees.
