Japan-based Toshiba Corp., NEC Electronics Corp. and Fujitsu Ltd. have announced the 4th revision of their standard interface specification for pseudo SRAM known as COSMORAM (Common Specifications for Mobile RAM) Rev. 4.

The three companies first created common specifications in Sept. 1998 to share the common interface for stacked multi-chip packages (MCPs) for mobile devices that include both Flash memory and SRAM. Subsequent revisions were made in 2002, 2003 and 2004 to add specifications for page mode and burst mode.

COSMORAM Rev. 4 adds a specification for pseudo SRAM with double data rate burst (DDR burst) mode.

All three companies will release products based on this revision starting next spring.
