Oscillator touts low power, excellent stability

EM Microelectronic said its 32kHz crystal oscillator combines excellent stability, high accuracy and a wide operating voltage range with low-power consumption in a small surface-mount ceramic package.

The EM1564 crystal oscillator integrates a 32.768kHz tuning fork crystal and an advanced CMOS circuit assembled in a surface-mount package with a height of 1.2mm. It offers high accuracy (frequency trimming in factory), excellent stability of 0.2ppm/V and a low power consumption of typically 300nA over the operating voltage range of 1.2V to 5.5V.

The crystal oscillator offers a standard temperature range of -40C to 85C, and is available with an extended range up to 125C. The device is Pb-free and RoHS compliant.

The EM1564's primary application is as a general-purpose crystal oscillator in digital systems including a variety of metering and automotive applications. It can also be used as a clock driver for timekeeping in networked servers and computers, data logger systems, mobile phone or GPS applications. This device is also suitable as an input clock driver or as an add-on circuit for all types of microcontrollers that can be driven with an external clock.

Pricing for the EM1564 starts at $1.50 each in quantities of 1,000.
