Keywords:EP40? Master Bond? epoxy resin compound? Gina Roos?

Master Bond has developed a highly flexible two-component epoxy resin compound specifically for bonding, sealing and casting to engineering plastics and metals. The EP40 is said to feature exceptional shear and peel strength.

The Master Bond Polymer System EP40 compound is also said to offer excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates including engineering plastics such as polycarbonates, acrylics and ABS as well as metals including steel and aluminum. The shear and peel strength for bonding polycarbonates are in the order of 1,000psi and 20psi, respectively, while steel and aluminum bonds yield shear strength values as high as 1,800 and 1,500psi.

The EP40 has been formulated to cure readily at ambient temperature, or more quickly at elevated temperatures with a non-critical one-to-one mix ratio, by weight or volume. Shrinkage after cure is low, less than 0.1 percent, and electrical insulation of the cured compound exceeds 1012 ohm-cm.

The EP40 is custom-manufactured and packaged to custom specifications; therefore, pricing varies significantly based on packaging type and quantity. Pricing is approximately $350 to $500 for minimum quantities.
