Fully differential interface ICs

Expanding its portfolio of clock and data management solutions, ON Semiconductor introduced the NB7L32M, NB4N11M, NB4N11S and NB4L52 fully differential interface ICs. These devices are designed for telecommunications, networking, high-end computing and automated test equipment applications.

The NB7L32M is a clock divider with CML outputs that accepts differential LVPECL, CML or LVDS inputs. With a maximum input clock frequency of 14GHz typical and jitter of 130fs typical, the NB7L32M is said to suit timing control applications. The device operates at VCC of 2.5V or 3.3V, includes 50-ohm input termination resistors and is packaged in a Pb-free, 3-by-3mm QFN-16. NB7L32MMNR2G is priced at $27 per unit in quantities of 3,000.

The NB4N11M is a 1:2 clock distribution chip with CML outputs, which accepts differential LVPECL, LVCMOS, LVTTL, CML or LVDS inputs. NB4N11M has a maximum input clock frequency of > 2.5GHz and jitter of 1ps typical. It features an open collector CML output that facilitates a high speed interface between mixed voltage level ICs (1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V). This open collector output structure makes communication possible between a signal source operating at a different voltage than the destination IC. According to ON, the NB4N11M requires no translation or level shifting. The device operates at VCC of 3.3V, and is packaged in a Pb-free 3-by-3mm TSSOP-8. The NB4N11MDTR2G is priced at $4.13 per unit in quantities of 2,500.

The NB4N11S is a 1:2 clock distribution chip with LVDS outputs that accept differential LVPECL, LVCMOS, LVTTL, CML or LVDS inputs. This device has a maximum input clock frequency of >2GHz and jitter of 500fs typical. The device operates at VCC of 3.3V and is packaged in a Pb-free QFN-16. The NB4N11SMNR2G is priced at $3.50 per unit in quantities of 3,000.

The NB4L52 is a D flip-flop with LVPECL outputs, which accepts differential LVPECL, LVCMOS, LVTTL, CML or LVDS inputs. NB4L52 has a maximum input clock frequency of >4GHz typical and jitter of 1ps typical. The NB4L52 is a pin for pin upgrade of the MC100EP52, adding support for a 2.5V supply. The reduced voltage results in lower power consumption and the elimination of a power supply rail if it is otherwise unused. The device includes 50-ohm termination resistors and is packaged in a Pb-free QFN-16. The NB4L52MNR2G is priced at $5 per unit in quantities of 3,000.
