ON Semiconductor has announced that its Leshan-Phoenix Semiconductor Co. Ltd joint venture, located in China's Sichuan province, has been ranked among China's top ten semiconductor assembly and test enterprises for 2005.

The ranking was done by the China Semiconductor Industry Association and China Center of Information Industry Development (CCID) based on data submitted by semiconductor companies for the last calendar year.

"The top ten ranking is testament to the success of our joint efforts and further validation that ON Semi's investment strategies in China have been on target and effectively executed," said M. K. Mak, VP of marketing for Asia Pacific. "ON Semi plans to continue to dedicate the resources required to sustain its record growth, its highly competitive edge, and its outstanding performance in China's rapidly developing semiconductor industry."

Leshan-Phoenix Semiconductor is a joint venture between ON Semi and Leshan Radio Co. Ltd with a staff of 2,200 employees. In 2005, production at the Leshan-Phoenix facility exceeded 18 billion units, producing primarily transistors and diodes in miniature surface-mount SOD-723, SOT-23, SC-59, SOD-323, SC-70, SC-88/88A, SOD-523 and SC-89 packages.

"Together, Leshan Radio Co. Ltd and ON Semi have worked diligently to develop and operate a world-class, state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility in China's western region," said Walt Guy, VP and director of global manufacturing for ON Semi. "We are proud and delighted by the recognition, which provides welcomed encouragement to continue our long-term plans for sustainable growth in China."
