Royal Philips Electronics, Samsung and T3G have collaborated to unveil a 3G video phone for the Chinese market.

The Samsung video phone combines Philips' Edge Nexperia cellular system solution 6120 with a TD-SCDMA processor developed by Philips and T3G and a protocol stack developed by T3G. It will be available on China's 3G network once operator licenses are granted, most likely the second quarter of 2006.

"The adoption of 3G in China is forecasted to be rapid, with consumers demanding more advanced 3G services and operators/handset manufacturers looking for innovative solutions to address evolving consumer expectations," said Gert Jan Kaat, SVP and GM of the mobile and personal business unit, Philips Semiconductors, in a statement.

Other companies, such as Ericsson and Nokia and China Putian, are also establishing 3G services in China.
