Sirenza Microdevices announced the production release of the newest addition to its line of high performance products for WiMAX (802.16 d/e) applications. The new SZM-3066Z is a high linearity 2W power amplifier (PA) promising connectivity and high throughput in WiMAX customer premises equipment, access points and base station equipment.

"The SZM-3066Z provides high combined output power and linearity in a single low-cost component. The flexibility of this new product allows customers to leverage its performance in a variety of applications," said Jim Spear, Sirenza's strategic business unit director for wireless access products.

Produced in InGaP HBT technology, the SZM-3066Z operates over the full 3.3-3.8GHz frequency range with 34dB of gain and provides over 26dBm of linear power at 2.5 percent EVM. This device operates from a single 5Vdc supply and features an adjustable on chip active bias circuit providing the designer with the flexibility to tailor performance based on the specific application. The SZM-3066Z also features power up/power down control to save power during receive modes and an on chip power detector.

The SZM-3066Z is housed in a low-cost surface mount, RoHS-compliant, Pb-free 6-by-6mm QFN package.
