Eazix Inc., the Philippine-based design service and ODM arm of Integrated Microelectronics Inc. (IMI), is participating with IMI subsidiary Speedy-Tech in CeBIT 2006, a trade fair for digital IT and telecommunications solutions, from March 9 to 15 in Hanover, Germany.

The company's main thrust in this year's CeBIT is to highlight its ability to assist OEMs in product realization, which stretches from conceptualization to manufacturing. A core competence of Eazix is its short-range wireless capabilities in developing products for WLAN and wireless personal area networks.

Frederick Blancas, marketing communications manager at IMI, disclosed that Eazix will be displaying their Zigbee-based products and wireless multimedia adapter at the fair. Meanwhile, Speedy-Tech will be showcasing their ODM solutions for power electronics, including battery chargers for industrial applications and power supplies for telecommunications and consumer applications.

Chicho Mantaring, head of component development at Eazix, believes that Zigbee will take off this year, saying that this is the reason why they plan to release four or five Zigbee products in 2006.

During the CeBIT fair, Eazix will showcase a platform for a meter-reading application that monitors the demand for a utility's excess capacity. The company will also display its multimedia adapter that targets automotive infotainment as one of its main applications. This adapter operates by receiving streamed content from a server, and then playing back the data on display devices such as projectors and TVs.

Eazix will also be promoting its capability for embedded systems, including hardware and software development skills for ARM-based and other 32bit RISC platforms, as well as for low-cost and low-power 8bit and 16bit microprocessors. According to the company, they have worked extensively with embedded Linux for applications such as consumer, office and industrial electronics products.

Arthur Tan, president and CEO of IMI, commented, "CeBIT is an appropriate platform for Eazix and Speedy-Tech to present their ODM capability to the European OEMs. Through this show, we hope to find opportunities for collaboration on fast and cost-effective product realization."
