TranSwitch exhibits Ethernet devices at IIC-China

TranSwitch Corp., a provider of semiconductor solutions for voice, data and video communications, will conduct live demonstrations of its EtherMap-PDH and PacketTrunk-4 devices, as well as its MY3128 XAUI-to-XAUI retimer device at the 11th Annual International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China) in Beijing from March 13-14, 2006.

EtherMap-PDH is a protocol converter that transports Ethernet services over existing PDH (plesiochronous digital hierarchy) signal formats. The device enables the mapping of Ethernet frames via GFP/HDLC/LAPS into bonded PDH signals while reusing the existing access infrastructure. EtherMap-PDH is compliant with the recently ratified ITU-T G.8040 and G.7043 standards. The device can be designed into platforms that have a PDH interface for wire line and wireless applications. It supports the following modes of operation: Ethernet frames mapped into 16 x E1/T1/J1; Ethernet frames mapped into 3 x DS3; and Ethernet frames and existing legacy services multiplexed into a channelized DS3, with 1+1 protection. The modes suit wire line and wireless applications, including local exchange switches, routers, switches, base stations and MSPP/MSTP.

The PacketTrunk-4 is an internetworking gateway device that transports TDM trunks over packet-switched networks (PSNs) using TDMoIP, a protocol for circuit emulation over IP/MPLS. This single-chip solution incorporates clock recovery, encapsulation, jitter compensation, Layer 2/3/4 QoS support and standards-based support for transport of structured and unstructured TDM signals over a PSN.

In addition, TranSwitch will demonstrate the ability to pass traffic of 10Gbps on CX4 cable (Infiniband cable) at various lengths and gauge (thickness). The demo will include the MY3128 evaluation board transmitting data full duplex to an X2 CX4 module that has MY3128 PHY inside.
