Molex quad LC adapter

Molex Inc. has added the quad LC adapter to its small-form factor product family to accommodate the network designer's need for increased fiber count in high-density applications.

This four-position LC adapter provides multiple connection options from a single adapter for high-density applications such as hubs, servers, routers and other telecommunications equipment. The LC connector can also be used in optical DVI as well as storage and LAN.

Available in snap-mount or screw-mount installation styles, the quad LC adapter provides increased density as compared with using multiple simplex or duplex LC adapters. This adapter features optional individual shutters on the user side to help provide an eye-safety option for protection even when the adapter is not fully populated.

The adapter is offered with either phosphor bronze or zirconia ceramic alignment sleeves to accommodate single-mode, multi-mode or angle-polish connectors. Connection options include four simplex LC connectors, two simplex and one duplex LC connector, or two duplex LC connectors.

The mounting dimensions are identical to the duplex SC adapter and can be used as a direct drop-in replacement for a density upgrade.

The multi-mode quad LC adapters are priced at approximately $9.50 in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is two to four weeks.
