Ten companies from Korea's IT-SoC Association participated in this year's International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China). One of which is Boo-Ree Multimedia Inc., a supplier of digital multimedia SoCs. Established in 2004, this company shared that it presently employs technical experts from Samsung and LG Electronics with extensive experience in semiconductor design.

At the conference, Boo-Ree demonstrated the BMC504 (BRAC5), which is a 25MHz 8bit 8051 CPU-based voice sound SoC that features advanced hardwired ADPCM voice codec and 4Mbit embedded NOR flash. According to the company, its high-quality sound and large memory space are very useful for voice application. Target applications for the BMC504 include GPS traffic safety devices, educational toys and home appliances.

Boo-Ree also showcased its BMP1000 multimedia processor IC that targets handheld mobile phones, and portable electronic devices with video and 3D processing capabilities. The company said this device is capable of displaying more than 1 million triangles in one second due to the embedded hardcore 3D processing engine. The BMP1000 processor also features audio/visual codec abilities that are in compliance with H.264 and MPEG-4 standards.
