Leading foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd (TSMC) has reportedly declined to comment on a report that it has sold out of manufacturing capacity in Q2.

TSMC has had to begin delaying order fulfillment into the Q3 of 2006 and has delegated other orders to affiliate companies such as Vanguard International Semiconductor Corp., according to an AFX news report that referenced the Commercial Times as its source.

The Commercial Times report quoted unnamed TSMC company sources saying that Q2 orders were up about 10 percent on Q1 levels and that manufacturing using 0.18-micron processes is running at 104 percent due to demand for cellular handset chips, the AFX report said.

TSMC posted February sales revenue of about $738.5 million, up 39.6 percent from February 2005 on March 10. Although the sales were down 8.3 percent sequentially from January sales of about $807 million this was mainly due to a shorter working month TSMC said.
