NEC to establish new company in India

NEC Corp. announced that it will establish a company, NEC India Pvt. Ltd (tentative name), in April 2006 in New Delhi, India, to expand its IT/Network business in the rapidly expanding Indian IT market. According to the press release, the new company will provide solutions for the construction of communication infrastructure and corporate IT/network infrastructure accompanying a rapid increase in IT-related public investment and increased communication demand in India.

NEC India Pvt. Ltd is scheduled to start operation in April 2006. Once established, it will initially employ 50 people, with plans to increase this number to around 300 employees over a period of three years. This company will be formed with capital of $1 million, with NEC Solutions Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd owning a 60-percent share and NEC 40 percent. It will provide IT/network solutions such as information systems, internet protocol (IP) systems, security systems, radio frequency identification (RFID) systems and wireless systems. In addition, it will sell mass-market IT products such as servers, PCs and projectors.

"Our new company in India will provide solutions that meet local needs, responding to the rapidly growing IT/Network demand that is forecast in the booming Indian market," said Norihiko Kunishima, senior vice president at NEC. "We also plan to capitalize on high-quality local software resources to develop our own proprietary products and expand local sales, contributing to the expansion and growth of India."
