Adlink Technology Inc. released its highest density CompactPCI and PXI platform isolated digital I/O module, cPCI-7452. Featuring 128-CH inputs and 128-CH outputs, the cPCI-7452 is designed for applications that need a large number of I/O controls within a certain spatial constraint, such as compact machine controllers and large-scale test and measurement systems.

The product has useful features for controlling a number of IO controls, said Adlink. One is the change-of-state (COS) detection functionality that aims to improve application program efficiency and reduce CPU processing time. When any state changes, users will receive an interrupt event and take necessary actions. Thus, the application program does not have to continuously check inputs for changes. This, says the company, results in better CPU utilization.

Moreover, the cPCI-7452 uses an open-collector Darlington circuit in each of the 128-CH digital outputs. The output driver can handle up to 500mA of current in some circumstances, and is suitable for applications such as external relay control and on/off switches. To prevent damage to the system from occasional surge voltage or current, all input and output channels are optically isolated with up to 2,500Vrms isolation voltage.

The product complies with PICMG 2.0 R3.0 specifications, and can be used in both 6U CompactPCI and PXI chassis. The cPCI-7452 supports Windows and Linux OS. With bundled software drivers, users could develop applications in various development environments, such as VC, VB, BCB, Delphi, LabVIEW and MATLAB.

The cPCI-7452 is offered at price of $1,200 and available from April 2006.
