RF power detector handles WiFi, WiMAX apps

Linear Technology reports that its LTC5533 dual-channel RF power detector is the first in the industry to reach the 11GHz range, making it suitable for multi-band WiFi, WiMAX and other radio applications. Covering RF applications ranging from 300MHz to 11GHz, the dual channel LTC5533 supports multiple frequencies in one package, as needed for multi-band applications. The device is optimized for power, drawing 500A per detector.

The LTC5533 contains temperature compensation circuitry designed to provide stable and accurate measurements over the full range of temperature extremes. The device includes buffer amplifiers and is housed in a 4-by-3mm surface mount package.

Key features include: Two independent temperature-compensated Schottky diode RF peak detectors; 45dB channel-to-channel isolation at 2GHz; 300MHz to 11GHz input frequency range; -32dBm to 12dBm input power range and 2.7Vdc to 6Vdc range.

The LTC5533 dual RF power detector is well suited for a range of applications, including dual-band WiFi PA power control, dual-band cellular/WiMAX basestations, point-to-point microwave links, transmit PA forward and reverse power measurements and low cost AM detector/receivers.

The LTC5533 is available from stock in a compact 4-by-3mm DFN package, priced at $3.20 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
