Analysys International, an Internet-based provider of business information about technology, media and telecom industries in China, disclosed that DVD-based DV camcorders suit the current market demand. However, the company also forecasted that flash memory-based DV camcorders will become the mainstream in the future.

Analysys said that with the development of microdrive and flash memory technology, microdrive and flash memory will inevitably replace DV tapes and DVDs and become the mainstream storage media for DV camcorders. As digital products become more fashionable, easier to use and more popular, added the company, DVD replacing DV tapes, microdrive and flash memory replacing DVD will be the main development trend of camcorder storage media.

Samsung Electronics recently released four new models of DVD camcorders in Beijing that promise the best compatibility with all key single layer DVD formats as well as dual layer +R disc in the community.
