Microsemi, Monolithic Power settle patent suit

Microsemi Corp. and Monolithic Power Systems Inc. announced that they have settled a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Microsemi in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The dispute involved lamp driver technologies used to illuminate electronic displays found in laptop and personal computers, automotive displays, and LCD TVs, as well as other LCD applications.

Both companies agreed to dismiss all claims and counterclaims in the litigation, and Microsemi agreed not to assert the four patents-in-suit against Monolithic Power Systems or its customers in the future.

The companies will continue to market their respective backlight inverter product lines, and are exploring the possibility of a cooperative business relationship.
